Overview
Against the backdrop of Chicago’s skyline and marathon tradition, Shokz introduced the OpenRun Pro 2 in a campaign that blended the city’s running culture with the brand’s newest global partnership.
Shokz and CAA partnered with us to produce a campaign announcing Shokz’s partnership with the Chicago Marathon and the release of their OpenRun Pro 2 headphones. The creative goal was threefold: highlight the headphones in real-world use, showcase them in iconic Chicago locations, and connect the announcement to the city’s vibrant running community. The final assets were designed for Shokz’s social channels, YouTube, and event playback at and around the Chicago Marathon Expo.
Challenges & Approach
With a tight timeline, our biggest challenge was securing permits for prominent Chicago landmarks while keeping production to a single day. We adopted a fluid, adaptive approach, locking locations as they became available and maintaining constant, transparent communication with the client. In addition to filming two local runners, we integrated supplied footage of elite athletes Hellen Obiri and Eliud Kipchoge using the product, creating a stronger connection to the global running community. The shoot incorporated multiple Chicago spots to capture the city’s energy and culture, balancing performance-driven shots with authentic lifestyle moments.
The Result
We delivered two hero campaign videos, each with two variations for a total of four platform-ready assets, along with 3D product animations of the OpenRun Pro 2. The pieces successfully bridged product storytelling with Chicago’s marathon culture, resonating with Shokz’s audience and the local running scene. The content was featured at the Chicago Marathon Expo and across Shokz’s digital platforms, strengthening the brand’s connection to endurance sport and its presence in one of the world’s premier running events.
